Radicate.eu is a research experimental project on the role of conversation in contemporary art and the development of verbal communication through new global connection technologies. We use conversation to add depth of understanding to the massive transformations we are experiencing on a global scale and analyse them from the perspective of contemporary art. We are drawn by the immateriality, sustainability and feeling of intimacy brought about by the use of this form of communication. The number of conversations is increasing over time, and in a few years all these conversations will help in outlining the development of contemporary art.
Conversation occurs irrespective of whether or not the art work is actually produced, while the need for its production should continuously be questioned from an ethical standpoint. Even actual movement and travel is about to become increasingly less sustainable, both economically and environmentally. This is why the use of new technologies to meet with colleagues from all over the world to exchange ideas and encourage debates will soon become a requirement rather than an affectation.
